Prince Edward Island issued 33 invitations to skilled workers and entrepreneurs in its latest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw, held on December 16, 2024. The draw allocated invitations across the Labor Impact, Express Entry, and Business Impact streams.
32 invitations went to candidates in the Labor Impact and Express Entry streams. These included individuals in key sectors such as healthcare, construction, and manufacturing. One invitation was issued under the Business Impact category, requiring a minimum score of 125 points.
The PEI Express Entry stream considers candidates already in the federal Express Entry pool. A provincial nomination through this stream adds 600 points to a candidate’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, significantly improving their likelihood of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.
The stream offers two pathways: one for candidates with a job offer and another for those without one.
The Labor Impact category features two streams. The Skilled Worker Stream targets applicants with full-time job offers from Prince Edward Island businesses. Eligibility criteria include post-secondary education, work experience, and proficiency in English or French. Candidates must also demonstrate settlement intentions in the province.
The Critical Worker Stream is designed to address labor shortages in occupations such as truck drivers, customer service representatives, laborers, food and beverage servers, and housekeeping attendants. Candidates must have a full-time job offer, work experience, and a valid Canadian work permit.
The Business Impact category operates through the Work Permit Stream. Applicants in this category must obtain a work permit and fulfill a Performance Agreement by working for a PEI business. After meeting the agreement’s conditions, they must invest at least $150,000 and actively manage the business within the province.
Prince Edward Island focuses on attracting skilled workers and entrepreneurs to support its economic growth and address labor market needs.
