Ontario has issued 2,487 invitations to apply for immigration under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) in four Employer Job Offer categories. The draws, held on September 10, focused heavily on health and skilled trades professions through the International Student Stream.
The largest invitations – 1,823 -were issued under the International Student Stream, with two separate draws targeting specific professions. Among these, 806 invitations went to candidates in health-related professions, reflecting Ontario’s commitment to bolstering its healthcare sector. This group’s required score was 67 or higher, covering profiles created between September 10, 2023, and September 10, 2024.
Also, 1,017 invitations were extended to candidates working in skilled trades, who also needed a score of 67 or above to qualify. These targeted draws underscore Ontario’s efforts to fill essential labor gaps in healthcare and skilled trades, encouraging international graduates to contribute to the provincial economy.
In a separate draw for the In-Demand Skills Stream, 649 invitations were issued to workers in occupations facing labor shortages. The minimum score for this draw was 34, allowing a wider range of candidates to qualify. The profiles targeted were created between September 10, 2023, and September 10, 2024.
A smaller, specialized draw was held under the Foreign Worker Stream, issuing 15 invitations as part of the Economic Mobility Pathways Project (EMPP). This initiative helps skilled refugees enter Ontario’s labor market. Notably, this draw did not require a minimum score, highlighting the province’s ongoing efforts to assist vulnerable individuals in securing employment.
In some cases, a permanent and full-time job in the agriculture or construction sector is required, with wages matching or exceeding the median pay for those already employed in the same roles.
