The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) implemented significant changes to its immigration pathways, notably resuming the intake for Job Approval Forms (JAFs) and closing certain streams.
Key Updates:
- Resumption of Job Approval Forms (JAFs): After a pause since February 18, 2025, the SINP has reopened the submission of JAFs. Employers can now submit these forms to hire skilled foreign workers, which are essential for job-offer-based permanent residence pathways.
- Prioritization of Specific Sectors: The SINP will focus on approving overseas candidates in the Health, Agriculture, and Skilled Trades sectors. Recruitment in other sectors will primarily target candidates already in Canada with valid work permits.
- Closure of Entrepreneur and Farm Owner/Operator Streams: Effective immediately, the SINP has closed the Entrepreneur, International Graduate Entrepreneur, and Farm Owner/Operator categories. Expressions of Interest in these streams will be removed, though existing applications submitted before this date will continue to be processed.
- Nomination Caps for Certain Industries: A maximum of 25% of the SINP’s annual nominations will be allocated to candidates in the Accommodations and Food Services, Retail Trade, and Trucking sectors. This cap will be reviewed and adjusted annually based on program priorities.
These changes reflect Saskatchewan’s efforts to align its immigration strategies with current labor market needs and federal nomination allocations.
