Prince Edward Island has invited 59 skilled worker candidates to apply for immigration through the latest draw under the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP). Held on November 21, the draw targeted individuals in the Healthcare, Construction, and Manufacturing sectors under the Labor Impact and Express Entry streams.
This initiative reflects the province’s commitment to addressing labor shortages in critical industries and bolstering its local economy. Candidates selected in this draw include those with expiring work permits in the Manufacturing sector and those in the Healthcare and Construction industries.
The PEI PNP offers two primary pathways to Canadian permanent residence: the Express Entry and Labor Impact Categories. The Express Entry pathway supports candidates with and without job offers, allowing them to secure a nomination that adds 600 points to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. This significantly increases their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in Canada.
Under the Labor Impact Category, the Skilled Worker Stream focuses on individuals with full-time job offers in occupations classified under Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibilities (TEER) categories 0, 1, 2, or 3.
Eligible candidates must have completed at least 14 years of formal education, be between the ages of 21 and 55, and have a minimum of two years of full-time work experience within the last five years. Proficiency in English or French, sufficient settlement funds, and a genuine intent to reside in Prince Edward Island are also required.
The Critical Worker Stream, on the other hand, addresses specific labor shortages by selecting candidates already working in PEI as truck drivers, customer service representatives, laborers, food and beverage servers, and housekeeping attendants.
Applicants must hold a valid Canadian work permit, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and meet similar age, work experience, and settlement fund requirements.
Through these targeted draws, Prince Edward Island ensures a steady influx of skilled professionals to support its economic growth and strengthen its workforce.
