Canada Issues 676 Invitations in the Latest PNP Express Entry Draw

Canada has issued 676 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) Express Entry draw conducted on December 2, 2024. The draw required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 705, marking a significant drop of 111 points compared to the previous PNP draw held on November 18, which saw 174 ITAs issued.

The December 2 draw reflects Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) ongoing efforts to meet the country’s ambitious immigration targets. This marks the 50th Express Entry draw in 2024 and the 328th draw since the program’s inception.

The PNP draw follows the recent November 20 Healthcare Occupations draw, which issued 3,000 ITAs to candidates with a minimum CRS score of 463. Throughout 2024, Canada has focused on various targeted and all-program draws.

IRCC’s strategy has included nine all-program draws, ten French-language draws, and 13 PNP-specific rounds. Targeted draws this year have addressed key sectors such as healthcare, STEM, transportation, agriculture, and trades.

Comparatively, 2023 saw Canada issue 110,266 ITAs across 19 all-program draws and several targeted draws, including five PNP rounds and six French-language rounds. The numbers reflect a steady increase in immigration invitations, with IRCC surpassing previous records, including 114,431 ITAs in 2021.

Canada’s immigration targets continue to rise. In 2023, the target was set at 465,000 permanent residency invitations. For 2024, the goal has increased to 485,000, underscoring the government’s commitment to economic growth and workforce expansion.

The December 2 draw implemented a tie-breaking rule, selecting candidates who submitted their profiles before November 27, 2024, at 1:15 PM EST. Successful candidates have 60 days to submit their applications, with most expected to be processed within the standard six-month timeframe.

Experts recommend candidates secure a provincial nomination or a valid job offer to enhance their chances of receiving an ITA in future draws. Employers are also advised to consider Labor Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs) to retain foreign workers long-term.

IRCC’s sustained efforts to refine the Express Entry system and expand targeted pathways highlight Canada’s dedication to meeting its growing immigration needs.
