Prince Edward Island Issues Latest Invitations to Skilled Immigration Candidates

Prince Edward Island (PEI) has once again opened its doors to prospective immigrants, issuing a fresh round of invitations under its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). This initiative is part of PEI’s ongoing efforts to address labour market demands and support economic growth through skilled immigration.

Details of the Latest Draw

In the latest draw, PEI extended invitations to candidates under the Labour & Express Entry stream. These streams typically target individuals with job offers in key sectors or those aligned with federal Express Entry profiles that match the province’s economic priorities.

The draw focused on selecting individuals with the right skills and experience to contribute to PEI’s workforce. The majority of the invitations went to those working in critical sectors, including:

  • Healthcare
  • Construction
  • Manufacturing
  • Food processing
  • Agriculture

PEI’s PNP continues to prioritize applicants who are already living and working in the province, especially those with long-term employment and strong community ties.

About the PEI PNP

The PEI Provincial Nominee Program allows the province to nominate individuals for permanent residence who demonstrate the ability to meet labour needs. It operates several streams, with the most active being:

  • Labour Impact Category: For foreign workers and international graduates with PEI job offers
  • Express Entry Category: For candidates in the federal Express Entry pool who meet PEI’s criteria
  • Business Impact Category (less frequent): For entrepreneurs looking to establish or buy a business in the province

What This Means for Immigration Candidates

Those who receive a nomination from PEI can gain an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points if they are part of the federal Express Entry system, significantly increasing their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.

Candidates interested in being considered for PEI’s future draws must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the province. Once in the EOI pool, they are scored and ranked based on factors such as education, work experience, language ability, and ties to the province.

Moving Forward

PEI is expected to continue regular draws as part of its strategy to bring in talent that aligns with regional economic priorities. Those working in in-demand occupations, with strong employment ties to the province, and with intentions to stay in PEI long-term, are more likely to be selected.

With its supportive community, affordable living, and ongoing labour shortages in several key industries, Prince Edward Island remains a strong choice for skilled immigrants looking to build a future in Canada.
