On October 6, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted an Express Entry draw dedicated to French-language proficiency candidates, issuing 4,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs). To qualify in this draw, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 432 and must have created their Express Entry profile before June 13, 2025. This represents one of the largest draws in 2025 for French-speaking candidates, signifying Canada’s increased focus on welcoming bilingual skilled workers to support its economic and demographic objectives.
French-language proficiency draws have consistently featured high ITA numbers, with the previous major French draw held on September 4, also inviting 4,500 applicants. As of this latest round, French-speaking candidates hold the record for the most invitations so far this year, reflecting IRCC’s continued efforts to boost Francophone immigration outside Quebec. In total, IRCC has issued more than 70,000 ITAs through various Express Entry draws in 2025, including streams for Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and key occupation categories such as healthcare, education, trade, and social services.
IRCC’s multi-stream category-based draws allow for targeted recruitment in areas of labor shortage, with ongoing shifts in invitation counts based on Canada’s evolving immigration priorities. This strategy is expected to ramp up further as Canada’s immigration targets rise next year, especially for Francophone and priority occupation candidates.
