Alberta recently held two draws under its provincial immigration program, inviting a fresh round of candidates to apply for a nomination for Canadian permanent residency.
The province invited 65 candidates in the first draw, held on May 1, which focused on healthcare workers to support Alberta’s vital healthcare system. In this draw, candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 316 were considered. These targeted draws aim to ensure that Alberta has the skilled workers it needs in essential sectors.
The second draw took place on May 7 and invited 40 candidates from various in-demand occupations. These candidates required a minimum CRS score of 302. By focusing on candidates with experience in occupations that are crucial to Alberta’s economy, the province aims to meet the ongoing needs of key industries.
These draws are part of Alberta’s broader efforts to bolster its workforce and support economic growth. The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) continues to be a critical pathway for candidates hoping to become permanent residents in Canada.
Candidates who receive invitations through these provincial draws can submit applications for a provincial nomination, which can significantly boost their chances of being selected for permanent residence under the federal Express Entry system. Express Entry profiles with a provincial nomination receive an additional 600 CRS points, practically guaranteeing an invitation to apply for permanent residency.
These latest draws highlight Alberta’s proactive approach to immigration, as the province aligns its immigration strategies with both labor market needs and economic priorities. Provincial immigration programs continue to play a significant role in helping communities attract the workers they need, while also offering skilled newcomers a reliable path to permanent residency in Canada.
